Join me at the Monona Library for this free etegami workshop. Here's what they are saying:
Artist and creativity coach Theresa Kim presents the “new” traditional artform ofhand painted drawings joined with meditative thoughts. Learn about this stress-relieving practice and then try it out! Don't worry about your artistic skills; the first rule of etegami is not only is it alright to be clumsy, it's GOOD to be clumsy! A Japanesestyle of painting that translates "picture letter," etegami makes you slow down and release expectations. The power of etegami is connecting to stillness, connecting to your inner calm and connecting to others all in one effort. Free & supplies provided, but space for this unique program is very limited. For adults /older teens.
Registration starts Jan. 29 and is required. Head here to learn more or sign up.
Spend an evening of mindfulness and creation at DreamBank. I will guide you through an encouraging experience using suminagashi, a Japanese technique of marbling paper that requires stillness and patience. No art skills are required — this event is about reflection and creating an extraordinary life.
This is the first in a four part series at DreamBank. The series is Connection and Intention through creating. Etegami is a form of Japanese art that uses simple images made with the brush held in such an unusual and clumsy way, that the idea of talent and perfection has to be tossed out the window. A simple phrase is added. The tradition is that the finished art is given to someone else.
No art skills are required - this even is about reflection and creating an extraordinary life. No, seriously.
Go here to sign up. It bugs me when I read things like this, but spaces actually really are limited. This is a free gig - they will fill up.
