Etegami is a Japanese folk art that translates "picture letter." The main premise is that not only is it alright to be clumsy, it's GOOD to be clumsy. That allows us to throw expectations out the window and play. We will use a combination of ink and watercolor, and a highly unusual way of holding the brush, to create this meditative artwork. Absolutely no artistic experience or skill is required. For ages 12 and up. Registration begins Monday, February 12.

An intention is an aim that guides action. As we move into the holidays, and into a new year, what is it that you are aiming for? More peace? More ease? More joy? Come join us in creating collage cards that will solidify your intentions, and be tangible guides as you decide what actions to take (or not to take). Don’t worry, this process doesn’t require any artistic skills! However, please register, as seats are limited. This event is perfect for guests ages 16 and up.

Ink flowing freely on smooth paper requires letting go and allowing yourself to get swept up by the wonder. Theresa will guide the process as you get your mind quiet and sink into the ease of this art-form. Bring a lunch along, and we’ll use the time that we’re waiting for the ink to dry to enjoy conversation and sharing thoughts about the experience. Absolutely no artistic skills are required.

This is the first in a four part series at DreamBank. The series is Connection and Intention through creating. Etegami is a form of Japanese art that uses simple images made with the brush held in such an unusual and clumsy way, that the idea of talent and perfection has to be tossed out the window. A simple phrase is added. The tradition is that the finished art is given to someone else.
No art skills are required - this even is about reflection and creating an extraordinary life. No, seriously.
Go here to sign up. It bugs me when I read things like this, but spaces actually really are limited. This is a free gig - they will fill up.
